Congrats to former Mets/Nats backstop Paulie Go Nuts, who successfully landed on his feet earlier today, signing with the Florida Marlins and subsequently being shipped to their PCL affiliate Albuquerque Isotopes. The aging lothario could have provided some needed offense to the parent club this evening, as the Fish fell into third place following a 3-0 loss to the New York Mets, in which the enigmatic Oliver Perez (above) held Florida to a mere two hits over 7 innings pitched. In an even more unlikely scenario, reliever Aaron Heilman hurled a scoreless two innings to collect his first save of 2008.
The evening’s highlight, I’m sorry to say, was not David Wright’s first inning 2-run HR, Carlos Delgado’s solo shot off Ricky Nolasco, nor Carlos Beltran’s terrific sliding catch to conclude the affair. Rather, the most memorable occurrence from Friday’s game came when Florida CF Alfredo Amezaga responded to taunts from the Shea picnic pavillion by grabbing his cock in full view of several children.

Since some of those children were verbally abusing Amezaga, I suppose it’s all fair game.
