With the possible exception of the next time Tom Glavine starts a game at Shea Stadium, a planned concert appearance by Billy Joel (above, right) could be the ugliest event in the 44 year history of the Queens venue that has previously hosted performances by Grand Funk Railroad, The Clash and Larry Zbysko (link courtesy Repoz).
Of course, the entire affair might be of some interest were the headliner to invite these guys to open the show.
“We couldn’t stop the bleeding,†General Manager Omar Minaya admitted.
