The Phoenix Coyotes have finally managed to trade Petr Nedved. He was sent to the Philadelphia Flyers Friday in exchange for defenceman Dennis Seidenberg. The Flyers will also have the option of swapping fourth-round draft choices with the Coyotes at this year’s entry draft and third-round choices with the Coyotes in next year’s entry draft.

Nedved has been going through a tough season. After missing 19 games with groin and elbow injuries, Nedved has been scratched from three of the Coyotes last four games. He has 2 goals and 11 points in 25 games this season.

“Too much of our scoring relied on just one line and we felt we also needed a shot from the point on the power play,” Flyers’ general anager Bob Clarke said in a statement. “Nedved has always been a good scorer and a real good player and we think he’ll solve some of our problems up front. Nedved has great speed, great hockey vision and a great shot, and because of the play of Freddy Meyer and Randy Jones we felt we could give up a young defenceman. Not that we wanted to, but our theory was that we needed some more scoring ability and more skill up front.”

Columbus D Bryan Berard (above) is facing a two-year ban from international competition after testing positive for nandralone. That’s one way to get out of going to Torino, but it seems so much simpler just to tell Howard Stern you want to marry Joe Montana.
