While watching Toronto’s Vinny Chulk labor through the home 7th inning against Boston today, WEEI’s Jerry Trupiano, perhaps woozy from the game’s early start, mused “What if Chulk had a chaw in his cheek, checked the runner on first…whose name was Chuck…and a line drive down the line hit the chalk?”
After the batter had choked up, of course.
(2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s for Manny Ramirez today, providing enough of a cushion for Curt Schilling to knocked around and/or certain left-fielders dropping flies)
From ESPN.com’s recap of the game:
Toronto left fielder Frank Catalanatto also let a ball drop about 10 feet in front of him when he lost it in the sun for a double.
“It was the worst thing we’ve ever played under,” Catalanatto said.
