The two combatants couldn’t have been more different. One was American’s Most Whipped Man. The other, the partner of a disgraced former Miss America. One veteran’s non-hoops cable experiences have been limited to a realty series about he and his clingy wife. His counterpart, a respected thespian for his work on “Oz” and to a lesser extent, Spike Lee’s “He Got Game”.
Their battle for the ages took place on October 25, 2002. And like the other classic bouts that we’ll long remember (Primo Carnera vs. Jack Sharkey, A-Rod vs. Bronson Arroyo, Glen Danzig vs. Danny Marianinho, this clash of styles deserves to be studied, time and time again.
