Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer claims the New York Jets have offered their head coaching vacancy to New England defensive coordinator Eric Mangini. ESPN’s Michael Smith reports that Mangini has accepted the offer, which means he should be around for at least 2 of however many years he’s agreed to coach.
A former Jets assistant from ’97-’99, Mangini, 34, becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL. Or to put it another way, Marv Levy could be his great-grandfather (if someone had a baby when they were really young).
I am a bit dismayed that Tice wasn’t offered the job. Brooks Bollinger looked a little tense out there — like he could have used a cruise.
