Congrats to Mickey Mantle’s Sports Bar founder Bill Linderman, who improbably, has made his 2nd CSTB appearance in recent memory, this time telling Page Six’s Richard Johnson that the venerable Zagat Guide has a grudge against his old restaurant.

“I will be the first person to come out and publicly take on the Zagat juggernaut,” fumed Liederman, author of the new book, “Mickey Mantle’s: Behind the Scenes in America’s Most Famous Sports Bar.”

Liederman – who seems unaware that plenty of others have expressed various complaints about the survey – claims the Zagats’ system of using quotes from diners who fill out a ratings form is a sham. He writes that, “[although there is no proof], several acquaintances of mine who have been associated with Zagat allege that he [Tim] takes a red pen to the actual results and alters them to reflect his personal opinion.”

Liederman told Page Six, “I think he knocks down restaurants that don’t fit his particular profile. It gets personal with him.

“Mickey Mantle’s lost thousands and thousands a year based on the survey and comments like ‘strikes out at the plate’ and ‘you can get better food at the ballpark.’ Our rating was even below that of Gray’s Papaya and Burger Heaven. There are other restaurateurs who feel the same way about them and I am consulting with a lawyer about a class-action suit.”
