As heard this afternoon on WFAN :
(Sublime’s “Santeria” fades out)
Joe Benigno : That’s Sublime….”I don’t practice Santeria”…”Santeria”, what’s that?
Evan Roberts : Uhhh…I don’t know.
Benigno : It’s like a wine, right?
Caller : Santeria is a witch-magic. Sangria is a wine.
Benigno : ‘Cause it sounds like a wine!
I heard Benigno-nothing the other day say that back in the 60-70’s he was known as a “big time music guy” (I can only freakin’ imagine) as he knew more about music than just about anybody he knew!
But, he said…that all changed when WFAN came on the air and he got to listen to sports 24/7…since he was also a “big time sports guy”.
Also this gem from Mad Dog the other day…paraphasing out here, “Well, Ali went to Canada to escape the Vietnam War”….errrgghh!
J.B. and Evan Roberts had a fascinating discussion today about the various changes to the local teams’ Triple A affiliates. Beningo-Gazingo was very relieved to know the Mets’ New Orleans farm club won’t be known as the Tides. Who knows, maybe they’ll get the internet in Long Island City one of these days.
