I’ve never attended a signing day breakfast, but if such affairs routinely feature Division One head coaches publicly accusing each other of recruiting violations, suffice to say, I shall start getting up much earlier in the morning.  From the Tennessean.com :

During an appearance later in Nashville, Lane Kiffin told The Tennessean he had since been informed that the call from Urban Meyer to four-star wide receiver Nu™Keese Richardson was not a violation.

Richardson originally committed to Florida but ultimately changed his mind and signed with UT Wednesday.

In a statement, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said the following:

“Coach Kiffin has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics,” Slive said. “SEC Bylaw 10.5.1 clearly states that coaches and administrators shall refrain from directed public criticism of other member institutions, their staffs or players.

œThe phone call to which Coach Kiffin referred to in his public comments is not a violation of SEC or NCAA rules. We expect our coaches to have an understanding and knowledge of conference and NCAA rules.
