(from 2008 – The Shroud Of Kevin Slaten Toast)
It would seem longtime St. Louis sports radio yackster Kevin Slaten has found a sparring partner other than Dave Duncan, though does still carry a torch of sorts for his former employer, KFNS. After learning the latter had plans to dump buddy Tim McKernan’s morning show in favor of the syndicated Bubba The Love Sponge, Slaten took to the KQQZ to challenge the former Terry Bollea mascot. From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Dan Caesar :
Slaten chided Clem for mispronouncing McKernan’s name (‘‘Kernan’’) and Slaten did the same with “Bubba,’’ calling him “Spongebob’’ — a reference to kids’ cartoon character “Spongebob Squarepants.’’ Slaten also challenged Clem, who has a racy, sometimes crude program, to call his show. Clem did so and fireworks ensued in a brief but loud, threatening, shouting match.
“I heard you said you were going to whip my (butt),’’ Clem tells Slaten, adding, “I’m going be in St. Louis Aug. 7, so if you want me to swing on by and see how tough you really are …’’
Slaten cuts in, saying, “If you want to challenge me to some sort of fisticuffs and threaten me, come by any time you want to…you are nothing but a fat (butt) and a big-mouth arrogant pompous (butt). … When you get (on the air) here you will prove you are nothing.’’
Clem says, “I will kick your (butt).’’ Slaten counters, “If you think I’m afraid of you, I’ll give you my home address.’’
Clem also has gotten personal with Slaten. He told his Twitter followers that Slaten is “some jobber (who) is trying to start (crap),’’ after calling him an unflattering name. “He has no idea who he’s messing with.’’
Another Clem tweet says Slaten “was suicidal when his last wife left him’’ for another “dude 5 months’’ into ”the marriage’’ and that Slaten “was crying on air.’’
