The Tigers fired Double-A Erie manager Duffy Dyer and his coaching staff Monday.

Dyer, hitting coach Pete Incaviglia, and pitching coach Mike Caldwell were told of their dismissal after a season-ending, 10-inning loss to Akron.

Dyer managed the Seawolves for two seasons. They shared the Eastern League™s worst record in his first year (63-79) and finished with the worst overall record this season (60-81).

Matt Walbeck, the former Detroit catcher, is a strong candidate to replace Dyer. Walbeck has managed Class A West Michigan into the playoffs in each of his three seasons there. He has also developed a good relationship with many of the players who are expected to play at Erie next season, including top prospect Cameron Maybin.
