The San Jose Mercury News’ John Ryan weighs in today on Rick Sutcliffe’s ill-advised visit to the Padres’ TV booth the other night (mp3, courtesy of Gaslamp Ball), but in all honesty, I’ve heard Sutcliffe’s spiel a few times and I really don’t see what the big deal is. He was no more or less coherent than we’d expect from his ESPN commentary.
Had Sutcliffe attempted to discuss the game that was taking place, then I could understand why Padres fans might feel they were being unfairly exposed to the rantings of a deranged individual.
Anyhow, when they decide to put a microphone in front of Peter Sutcliffe, that’s when I’ll sit up and take notice.
