Joe Buck (above), yapping during the top of the 4th inning of today’s Yanks/Mets encounter:
“I give Jason Giambi a lot of credit for being at least the one guy who has come close enough to an admission of wrongdoing.”
“Close enough.” repeated Tim McCarver.
“Close enough, but it’s not there.” replied Buck.
Can the balloting for the 2008 AL Comeback Player Of The Year Award begin now?
That’s Jack’s boy (and Leon’s buddy), Joe Buck.

Thank you for writing this down, CSTB. Seriously. This provides valuable insight into the personal dynamic between these future Ford C. Frick award winners, their thought process, and the Pure Comedy Gold that is a FOX baseball broadcast.
Apropos of zilcho: Does anyone know if there any pure ‘color men’ in the Baseball Hall of Fame? Or, like the title of ‘career DH’, will that keep McCarver remaindered for the veterans’ committee?
Scott,
I don’t know what’s lamer, that I was so zonked out yesterday I typed “Jack” instead of “Joe”, or that it took an entire day for anyone to point out one of the dumbest errors in my editorial history. Weekend traffic is almost as slow as me, apparently.
