Or, for that matter, any kiddies in the Whitlock family. IGN’s Bill Barnwell on “NBA Ballers : The Chosen One”, dropping first quarter ’08 for the PS3 and XBox 360.

The sequel to NBA Ballers will again feature one-on-one and two-on-two gameplay, with the focus being on becoming the “Chosen One” and living the NBA lifestyle. The game will feature new “action movie” style camera angles of moves, and like in the original Ballers, you’ll travel around the world to a series of different courts, but this time as part of the “Chosen One Tournament”. With the original Ballers’ affection for referencing other Midway games, let’s hope this is Shang Tsung-related. When you consider that Ballers’ combination move system is based upon the best move systems seen in fighting games, well, you may want to watch out if you get sent to Asia to play a guy with four arms.

By beating already-established stars, you’ll also be able to acquire new super moves to shut down opposing players while you play defense (if so inclined, Zach Randolph fans), and with online mode, you’ll be able to play against other super ballers and become, theoretically, the Chosenest One.

The tournament revolves around an invitation-only televised tournament that’s live every Thursday night during the NBA offseason. Each player in the game has super moves that fit his character, so unlike NBA Jam, don’t expect to be seeing any Derek Harper tomahawk dunks. Or any Derek Harper at all.
