In a manner not unlike the collected works of Tupac Shakur growing in size with each year after his untimely passage, the “Playing For Peanuts” blooper reel depicting the classic meltdowns of South Georgia Peanuts skipper Wally Backman (currently leading the Mets’ NY-Penn League AA team in Binghamton) seems to be a never-ending story. Since there’s the slightest chance that Backman might succeed Terry Collins in Flushing (thus becoming the first MLB manager ever to earn the U.S. minimum wage), who’s to say we’ve already seen his most unexpurgated moments?
What an idiot. Now I completely understand why the little prick hasn’t had the opportunity to coach in the big leagues. Earl Weaver at his worst never proved to be as classless at Wally Backman.
