Proving that neither Riley Cooper nor guitarist Trevor LaBonte have a monopoly on abject dumbfuckery, a statue of Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese in front of the Brooklyn Cyclones’ MCU Park in Coney Island was vandalized overnight.  From the New York Daily News’ Thomas Tracy and Rich Shapiro :

Among the hate-filled messages written in black marker on the monument to Robinson and his Brooklyn Dodgers teammate Pee Wee Reese were: “Heil Hitler,” “Die n—-r,” “F–k n—-r” and “F–k Jackie Robinson.”

Workers scrubbed the graffiti off of the top of the bronze statue Wednesday morning.

However, Cyclones director of communications Harner said they were unable to remove the marker from the base, which is made of stone.

(ADDENDEUM : as per a photographed published later on Wednesday by the Daily News, the vandals scrawled “Hile Hitler” (sic) at the base of the statue)
