1) As expected, the Sultan of Sloth (above) goes from Boston to San Diego for a player to be determined. Boston picks up RHP Kevin Jarvis from the Snakes.
2) Phil Nevin returns to the American League, being shipped to the Twins by the Cubs for a player to be named later.
3) Marlon Anderson scores the game-winner for the Nats, and is promptly packed up to the Dodgers in exchange for RHP Jhonny Nunez.
4) The Mets recalled INF Anderson Hernandez from Norfolk. Some of us are old enough to recall when Hernandez was their starting second baseman.
5) San Diego signed Rudy Seanez and recalled Termel Sledge from Portland of the PCL. Never let it be said the Padres aren’t willing to do whatever it takes to win a pennant.
Moving onto Friday’s moves, the Cubs have activated lefties Scott Eyre and Sean Marshall, as well as taking RHP Wade Miller (who looked fairly solid pitching against Round Rock a couple of weekends back) off the DL. The Giants have recalled Jason Ellison and Lance Niekro from Fresno, as well as promoting RHP Scott Munter from the Eastern League’s curiously named Connecticut Defenders.
