Indians starter Paul Byrd allowed an unintentional walk for the first time since mid April last night during Cleveland’s 5-4, 11 inning win over Detroit.  More troublesome for Byrd, today is the first time I’ve suggested he’s a dead ringer for the late Chris Benoit since, well, the middle of last season.

While watching Surfin’ Barry’s control problems last night, I could swear I overheard Mike Hampton saying something about one of the worst free-agent signings in history.

“The thing about home runs…we have no idea when they’re coming,” is ESPN’s promosexual soundbyte for the Home Run Derby, but I beg to differ.  They’re coming moments after we hear a man intone, “now pitching, Aaron Heilman.” Ken Rosenthal quotes Rick Peterson assuring us that Heilman will be a-ok ” if he stops elevating the ball,” and once again, the Jacket makes an excellent point.  You don’t see very many 450 foot ground balls.
