Middlesbrough 0, Sevilla 4

(Freddy gets smoochy)

Sevilla scored 3 goals in the final 12 minutes (the last one coming from Fredric Kanoute, above) to clinch their first-ever UEFA Cup earlier today in Eindhoven.

I’ve made the odd sneering remark before about this being a competition to determine the 33rd best club team in Europe, but after watching the final few rounds, I take it back.   The UEFA Cup is every bit as exciting as basketball’s NIT, except there’s slightly more drinking (and the players aren’t paid nearly as well).  I have full confidence that next year’s Tottenham squad will make a good showing in this tournament…while compromsing their domestic results in the process.
