OK, perhaps that’s a little unfair. From 1986, courtesy Jon Solomon, the trio of Prescott, Williams and Weigand, doing verbal battle with a smallish mob of City Gardens matinee patrons, most of whom were impatiently awaiting Agent Orange’s appearance.
Regardless of what Jeff Weigand says, (http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/even-with-two-lauded-reissues-volcano-suns-ducks-fame/Content?oid=1214143)
I’ve always dug the records from the 3rd iteration of Volcano Suns. While I’m not doubting the greatness of the first two my copy of Bumper Crop is horribly warped and side B was long ago covered in some sticky liquid I assume was beer…a reissue would be nice of that and Farced.
A few years ago while buying a t-shirt off Bob Weston at a Shellac show I asked him what’s up with more Volcano Suns reissues, he deadpanned that he doesn’t know, that I should “ask Peter”. While that maybe wasn’t the enthusiastic response I was looking for he still did a great job remastering the Merge reissues so I’ll keep looking for the next two…because let’s not forget:
“SEX – FREED FROM VALUE OR SOCIAL RESTRICTIONS – THE INTIMACIES OF DRUG ADDITION, THE THRILLS OF CRIME, THE COMFORTS OF GANG LIFE AND THE WILLINGNESS TO DISLOCATE AND SUFFER.”
I’m just disappointed Steve Michener & Gary Waleik aren’t on the road this summer with someone other than Peter (Robo? Malcom Travis? Walter Gufstafson?) as “The Suns”. Way to miss the fucking boat, Riot Fest!
Oh man I can see it now:
