….for almost 24 hours! Mets utilityman / convenient scapegoat Jordany Valdespin (above) was demoted to the club’s Las Vegas (PCL) affiliate Saturday night, and according to the Star-Ledger’s Jorge Castillo, didn’t take the news particularly well.

Valdespin snapped in anger in the visitors clubhouse at PNC Park, yelling furiously while his startled teammates looked on, according to two people who witnessed the episode.

The people requested anonymity to speak freely on the matter.

Bullpen coach Ricky Bones had to calm Valdespin down, according to one witness.

“He’s not helping himself,” one person said of Valdespin. “Everyone gets upset when that happens, but you just need to shut up and pack your bags.”

It would appear there’s someone in the Mets organization who feels very comfortable speaking freely on the subject, telling the Post’s Mike Puma that Valdespin called Collins, “a cocksucker”, and “tried to invent an injury and demanded to be placed on the disabled list.”. Hey, if this team can ever find a hitting tutor for Ike Davis that’s nearly as dedicated as whoever feeds the papers dirt on Valdespin, they’ve got a realistic shot at winning 77 games.
