The cynic in me suspects Sir Charles’ weekend would’ve been better spent in training for his upcoming sprint versus Dick Bavetta — kind of like the Senior League version of Lewis vs. Johnson, though I’m not sure yet who is who. However, the Chuckster had less athletic pursuits on his mind, as this item from SI.com explains.
Charles Barkley said Monday that he won “about $700,000” gambling in Las Vegas over the weekend.”That was all profit (from) blackjack and I bet on the Super Bowl. I had the Colts,” Barkley said in an interview with Phoenix television station KTVK. “I played a lot of blackjack.”
Not bad. I suppose that means Charles has now only lost $9.3 million during his gambling tenure.
CSTB wouldn’t understand because CSTB isn’t a champion like Barkley. CB may be down 9.3 million, but the same steely drive that won him those NBA championships is what’s going to get him his money back. Well, what nearly won him one … maybe he should go on Howie Mandell’s show.
