(apologies to Tug McGraw)
While some of us haven’t had breakfast yet, reigning Nathan’s Hot Dog / Krystal Burger eating champ Joey Chestnut (above, resplendent in a Major League Eating tee) claimed his third consecutive Wing Bowl title this morning at Philly’s Wachovia Center. Chestnut successfully consumed 241 chicken wings, 14 better than his nearest challenger, Patrick Bertoletti.
Given this blog’s past tendency to describe Takeru Kobayashi as the Lance Armstrong of competitive eating, Chestnut at the very least must be considered the sport’s Barry Bonds. (Philly.com link courtesy Chuck Meehan)
