Penguins RW Zigmund Palffy, a prodigious scoring threat during his spell with the New York Islanders, has announced his retirement.
Palffy, 33, having failed to fully recover from a right shoulder injury he suffered two years ago, leaves Pittsburgh after having signed a 3 year, $13.5 million deal during the off-season.
The Penguins will now have even less excuse for not playing/paying Marc-Andre Fleury. And they’re only 19 points out of a playoff spot!
Penguins announced that Fleury’s staying with the club all year today, but I think that was a foregone conclusion since he’s been their primary starter for the last stretch of games and played well considering the circumstances (i.e. no defense).
Maybe they could take Dan McGillis off the Devils’ hands.
