(life-size, not so scary replica of a formerly active NBA player)

Each January’s CES features scads of new high-tech product debuts, but few as confusing or weirdly timed as this one, covered by PC Magazine’s Tim Giden :

Absent from the Monster press conference were Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine”recent fixtures of the Monster press tour. Nor were any new Beats products announced at CES 2011. And, thus, the event seemed almost modest in comparison to the presence Monster has had at CES years past, when a press conference would often be followed up by a secret press Q&A (with lots of champagne) with Dr. Dre or P. Diddy at fancy casino penthouse. Of course, there is always the annual CES “awards show” and concert Monster throws. This year’s performer at the Friday night event will be Earth, Wind, & Fire, with whom Monster plans to collaborate on audio products later on in 2011.

Another collaboration that was announced”perhaps the most vague of the day”was with Monster and Yao Ming, the NBA star. Ming was not present, but a life-size, almost scary replica of him was. Monster will be bringing you Yao Ming-branded audio products in 2011, but declined to get more specific. You heard it here first.
