LeBron James won’t be leaving home anytime soon.
Cleveland’s All-Star forward has accepted a five-year contract extension worth about 80 million dollars from the Cavaliers.
James’ agent says he’ll officially sign the deal once the league’s moratorium ends Wednesday.
James waited a week before announcing his intention to take the deal, which will keep him in Cleveland through the 2012-2013 season.
The above version of events is affirmed by the Akron Beacon Journal’s Brian Windhorst.
Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade had all agreed to their max extensions earlier this off-season. Today’s announcement is undoubtedly terrific news for Cleveland fans who’ve been sweating it out…even Carlos Boozer has to be touched by LeBron’s loyalty to the city and the organization.
THERE WAS NEVER A DOUBT THAT KING JAMES WOULD NOT SIGN, THE PRESS NEEDED A TOP STORY, TO TALK ABOUT. CLEVELAND WILL GET
HIM SOME HELP TO REACH THE PROMISE LAND.
I don’t see how they get to an Nba finals in the next few years. Not only are they capped out but it’s with players no one else wants who are on the downside of the career (Z, Marshall, Damon Jones).
They got as far as they did despite Danny Ferry.
