This space has mentioned the Globe/NESN/Red Sox marriage many times in recent months. Now another possible conflict of interest needs to be addressed as well. It’s always been relevant, but even moreso now. Ben Cherington is married to Channel 7 Sports anchor Wendi Nix (above). What does this mean for coverage? It’s not like Nix has been out there breaking stories left and right, but if she should get a scoop or two, it’s going to be questioned. It’s something to keep an eye out for in the coming months. One thing we know is that Nix appears sensitive to the topic. On the Big Show last summer, Michael Felger made a reference to her possible conflict and Nix nearly bit his head off. Perhaps it was just Big Show drama, but it appeared genuine.
