As predicted, well, everywhere other than this space, free agent Grant Hill inked a two year deal with the Phoenix Suns today. Assuming Hill doesn’t reinjure his ankle during the formal signing, he should rack up a tad more playing time next season than Jalen Rose.
Put a little mustard on this : the Seattle Times’ Steve Kelley has spoken to “league sources” who claim “Rashard Lewis’ camp might have agreed to a sign-and-trade had the Sonics hired Dwane Casey as their coach instead of former San Antonio assistant P.J. Carlesimo, because of Lewis’ affection for Casey.”
Perhaps, but with the Spurs connection firmly in place in Oklahoma City Seattle (ie. Clay Bennett and Sam Presti’s prior relationships with the Peege), Lewis’ move was hardly unexpected. Just think of how radically the Sonics’ identity has changed in short succession. Surely I’m not the only continuity-minded person who would like to see Carlesimo retain Danny Fortson in some kind of player/assistant coach capacity? Not because I think he’d help the team very much, mind you, I’m just looking forward to all the great blog content that would result.
