As if a 4-2 win over Tampa in Game 6 of the ALCS wasn’t tonic enough for Red Sox fans, the Associated Press reports this morning that Yankee P Joba Chamberlain was arrested in his native Lincoln, NE and charged with driving under theinfluence of alcohol. An item in tomorrow’s NY Post cites Chamberlain as being admitted to the wonderfully named Cornhusker Place Detox.
I think I can hear the voice of Dean Wormer Hank Steinbrenner loud and clear : “fat, drunk and pitching middle relief is no way to go through life.”
Unrelated: ahem, I would like it on the official record that I believe the Sox will win Game 7 and that they should probably take the WS in 5. Last year when they were down 3-1 to Cleveland, I had a feeling they’d come back because of the pitching matchups. This year, not so much. My wife (who knows absolutely nothing about any sport ever) said she had a feeling they were going to come back to win Game 5 last week, though I was much more skeptical. Actually, before the game I pretty much admitted that the Rays have a much younger, healthier, athletic team and that this just wasn’t the year for the Sox. Glad I was wrong. Maddon fucked up. That Game 5 was Grady Little leaving Pedro in too long, the ball between Buckner’s legs and Kirk Gibson’s homer all wrapped up into one. You don’t come back from that. Say what you want about Papelbon being a frattish douche, the guy’s gonna Riverdance all the way to another ring.
Dear Rog:
Ha ha ha ha and aha ha.
Joba,
It’s tough being me. Don’t try and be smart kid. Howard Stern said it best, “…I don’t think Ryan has learned his lesson.”
Don’t be me. Don’t try. Don’t be jealous.
Drinking and driving don’t mix.
Good luck and best wishes…..GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I don’t want my team to win it all every year. I’m totally ok with Tampa and I plan on rooting for them. They really are solid with the exception of their manager and ‘closer.’
