As heard on WFAN and the YES Network earlier today.
Francesca : You gonna go see “Brokeback Mountain”?
Russo : I probably would. My parents saw it and they thought it was very good. You know what else, that “Capote” guy, the actor, he did a great job.
Francesca : No, listen, that guy…
Russo : ….who I’m not familiar with.
Francesca : …Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a very good actor.
Russo : What has he been in?
Francesca : He’s now made it to where he can pretty much carry a role. He’s been in a thousand character roles. You remember “Almost Famous”? He played the journalist. You remember “The Talented Mr. Ripley”?
Russo : You hated that movie.
Francesca : That was a weird movie. That was Jude Law, Matt Damon…
Russo : You couldn’t stand that film!
Francesca : It was weird, very strange. Had good stars in it though.
Russo : I want to see “Glory Road”, but I’m worried that I’ll know too much about the factual errors.
I know Francesa’s literally round, but how square do you have to be to find an Anthony Minghella movie weird?
“Weird” in this case is a stand-in for having gay content. That’s why Russo says he “probably would” see Brokeback Mountain instead of offering a more concrete answer.
On the other hand, he makes that one comment about Glory Road because he’s an idiot.
Factual errors? Like this one?:
Francesa had a far stranger know-it-all moment last week during an exchange with coach Don Haskins about whether the 1966 NCAA hoops final won by Texas Western was in the afternoon or at night.
Francesa insisted it was the former. Haskins, who happened to be there, said it was the latter. They went back and forth a couple of times before Haskins gave up. For the record, tip-off was at about 10 p.m.

This is almost as good as when Francesspool and Mad Dog were making misstep after mistake about Johnny Cash’s career a while back.
Cesspool…”Everyone who came into that Sun’s studio became a superstar.”
Mad Dog…”Yea, that guy down there…whatsisname Mikey?…they all had hits!”
Tell that to the original ‘Mad Dog’ Jimmy Wages…
If i had more time or wasn’t totally engrossed in boosting CSTB traffic with Kendra Davis jpgs, I’d share Mikey’s amazing analysis of the past week’s box office grosses. Surely I am not the only person who would like to see Francesca make the logical leap from the YES Network to the E! channel.
Repoz, not only do I long for the day that Joey Welz pays a visit to Mike & Chris’ show, but I am already working on the press release that calls the Rock Legend (In His Own Mind) a former collaborator of Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, Darling Cruel and Samhain.
