How bad are things for former slugger / current accountant Albert Belle? This morning, even Dmitri Young looks good by comparison. From the East Valley Tribune’s Mike Sakal.
Former major league baseball star Albert J. Belle has again been arrested on suspicion of stalking an ex-girlfriend. Belle, 39, was arrested by Scottsdale police at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday at his north Scottsdale residence, police said.
Belle, who formerly played for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles, first was arrested by Scottsdale police on Feb. 16 near his residence after failing to show up for questioning in a felony stalking case, police said.
At the time, Belle™s ex-girlfriend told police that she found an electronic tracking device in her driveway that apparently fell off her car. She also told police Belle had been showing up at several places she went, such as the grocery store, gym and on dates.
Police said the woman had recorded phone calls from Belle in which he admitted to her that he placed the device on her car and said he™d kill her if she told authorities. Belle was ordered by Maricopa County Superior Court not to have any contact with her. But about a month ago, police said, the exgirlfriend reported that she had been receiving hang-up calls. Scottsdale police said they discovered Belle had continued to make harassing phone calls to the woman.
In a slightly related story, I’ve been receiving some strange messages on my voice mail, too, and though I’m pretty sure Albert Belle isn’t involved, the voice sounds very familiar.
