Ugly scenes from Manchester United’s Champions League quarterfinal tie at Roma last Wednesday night, though perhaps not nearly as troubling to MU supporters as the soon-to-be YouTubed footage of Rio Ferdinand’s deciding own goal against Portsmouth today. As cruel pranks go, it’s safe to say Rio has been warming up for a while.
MLS’ 11th season kicked off earlier today, and Chicago’s Logan Pause (pause)….just gave the Fire a 1-0 lead over New England. Earlier today, F.C. Dallas and Real Salt Lake battled to a 2-2 draw, with the latter’s Jeff Cunningham scoring twice. Later tonight, Toronto F.C. begin their inaugural season with a visit to Chivas USA (still ground sharing with the Galaxy at the Home Depot Center, a venue unmentioned in the Angry Samoans’ “Carson Girls”)
