From the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Mark Lancaster :

The Reds today hired Thom Brennaman to join their radio and TV broadcast teams and signed him to a four-year contract through 2010.

Thom will be in the radio booth for “selected” broadcasts alongside his father, Marty, and also will do television. I would expect Thom to do play-by-play for 45 games on FSN Ohio, though that wasn’t specified by the Reds.

I still expect a former player — perhaps Jeff Brantley — to be hired for the radio gig, as Thom probably will only do 45-50 games there.

Along with mentioning Dusty Baker’s forthcoming TV work for ESPN, MLB.com’s Carrie Muskat hung around for the former Cubs manager’s office clearing.

Baker finished packing his belongings on Tuesday and was to head home to California. However, he did not take a photo someone sent him of a water-stained apparition of the Virgin Mary that appeared under a highway viaduct. Someone had written “Go Cubs” next to the image, and sent a picture of it to Baker.

He left the picture in the manager’s office at Wrigley Field, and didn’t pack it with his other belongings. He didn’t want to throw away the picture; he said he didn’t want any bad luck.
