From Phil Mushnick in Sunday’s NY Post :
ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” and “SportsCenter,” Thursday and Friday, paid somber and righteous attention to that head-to-head collision between Mike Cameron and Carlos Beltran.
Now, back to ESPN’s X-Games!
Games? What games? You see any games within the X-Games? These are double-dare stunts predicated on entertaining young males through the promise of a performer wiping out and landing on his head.
The next time I visit the NY Public Library, I’ll have to look up all of Phil’s columns from the 1970’s where he spoke out against the opening credits to ABC’s “Wide World Of Sports”. And why can’t all of these young males learn to appreciate the subtle pleasures of sitting on a couch and watching Phil Mickelson walk around on a well manicured lawn?
Until Phil includes such ‘double dare’ sports as skiing and ice skating on his list, I refuse to join him in his attack on the X-Games.
Gotta go, Viva La Bam is on!
