“Moneyball” made C Jeremy Brown (above) a household name (sort of), and I’ve had the pleasure of watching Brown wield the Tools Of Ignorance at two different minor league levels when Midland and Sacramento have visited Round Rock.

Catfish Stew’s Ken Arenson, however, trumps me by a mile. He was on hand yesterday at McAfree Coliseum for Brown’s major league debut.

I got to witness a truly magical moment. A wooden character came to life, before my very own eyes. It was like being right there, in the room, when Pinocchio shed his strings and became a real boy.

Tampa Bay, you’ve been Boofed. The D-Rays have little to show for their efforts today against the Twins other than a Dioner Navarro solo HR off Boof Bonser in the 5th inning. Minnesota responded with a two-run blast by Rondell White off Tim Corcoran in the top of the 7th, and they hold a 2-1 lead.

The Mariners managed little more than a Raul Ibanez RBI single in the first inning today off Detroit’s Nate Robertson (7 IP, 96 pitches, 8 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 4 K’s), and trail the Tigers, 6-2 in the top of the 9th at Comerica. Magglio Ordonez (shown robbing Ibanez of a hit in the 7th inning) smacked his 19th HR of the season, a two-run shot to left center off Jarrod Washburn in the home half of the first.
