That’s a World Champion? The Cubs made the trip out to the burbs today, down to The Cell, to play the World Champion White Sox. Even with the Cubs Derrek Lee on the DL, Kerry Wood struggling, Mark Prior a mystery, and an ancient 41-year-old Greg Maddux (above) on the mound, the Sox only managed to beat the most the weakest team fielded yet by Dusty Baker in a 6-1 outting. It’s at this point that Cub fans can rightly surmise that the Sox got lucky last year. In 1919 the Sox threw a World Series, now I’m beginning to wonder who threw it to them? Good Luck this year in October, you’ll need it.
That’s much better than the “CUBBIES!!!” chant I had to endure at a bar last night… 7 HOURS AFTER THE LOSS.
Kudos to Ben Schwartz.
