Rajon Rondo wasted little time getting in Kris Humphries’ face last week when the Nets’ universally-despised big man hit Kevin Garnett with a hard foul under the basket, but really, is it such a big deal to threaten someone for tangling with a teammate? Spurs F Stephen Jackson went Rondo one step further Friday night, issuing a challenge to OKC’s Serge Ibaka….over his physical confrontation with someone who hasn’t played on the same team as Jackson in a decade. From the OC Register’s Kevin Ding :
After Metta World Peace and Ibaka got into a brief altercation with 2:56 left in the Lakers’ loss to the Thunder on Friday night, Jackson offered via his Twitter account (printed verbatim here):
“Somebody tell serg Abaka. He aint bout dis life. Next time he run up on me im goin in his mouth. That’s a promise. He doin 2 much.”
Ibaka and Jackson had their own disagreement early this season, with Jackson quoted by the San Antonio Express-News as saying: “Ibaka was running his mouth a little too much. I will never get disrespected by nobody. I’m going to go out a man.”
Jackson has since deleted the tweet in question. However, he does seem very aware he’s provoked a reaction of some sort or another.
