The Hoop Doctors helpfully embeded the above clip from last night’s studio coverage of the Lakers/Dallas game in which Gary Payton reduced the contributions of Celtics guard Rajon Rondo to that of a mere cheerleader. HD name checks Will Perdue and Jon Salley, but surely Mark Madsen deserves a look-in, too?
While the New York Daily News’ Frank Isola drops the tantilizing possibility, however remote, of the Knicks swapping The Eddy Curry Suppression Ring for Miami’s Shawn Marion, the columnist also quotes an unnamed team source as claiming Danillo Gallinari’s rookie campaign is over before it starts. That’s a grim prospect, but consider that Mike D’Antoni has the 5-3 Knicks approaching competentcy with no real additions from last season’s cellar fixtures. Not counting the obvious additions by substraction, that is.
(ADDENDUM : kids, blogging on crack is never a good thing. Amongst the “real additions” to the 2008-09 Knicks squad is PG Chris Duhon, previously hailed in this very space. Duh.)
I love GP and C Webb on the NBA TV show – I was telling someone it’s got the feel of a local cable access show or a regional sports network – and they just say whatever the fuck comes to mind. Awesome.
GP conveniently forgot to mention a guy named Gary Payton bandwagoning his way to a ring with the Heat a few years back . .. . .
Gary is Jealous. Rondo contributed a lot more than he did to get his ring. Rondo plays the best defense of any pg in the league. In the clinching game he had 6 or 7 steals (and more deflections that led to steals)
He was their starting pg all year – hardly a “towel waiver” on the bench.
jared…..you are a dumb fuck to think payton is jealous of rajon rondo. payton in his prime would kill rondo.
