Newsday’s Ken Davidoff reports that Julio Franco’s 18 month stint as defacto player-coach (mostly the latter) has ended in tears, with the 103 year old utility man being DFA’d earlier today.
Franco’s probable release coincides with the promotion of Lastings Milledge (above, right) from Double A Binghamton, an event that should ensure at least 3 or 4 columns by Wally Matthews on the matter of Da Edge’s crap ‘tude between now and season’s end.
