The Blue Jays have inked 3B Corey Koskie to a three year, $17 million contract. Koskie, 31, hit .251 with 25 HR’s and 76 RI’s for Minnesota last year, though only appeared in 118 games.
Toronto are expected to shift Eric Hinske to 1B with the expected departure of Carlos Delgado.
Koskie is the 3rd free agent to bolt the Twins this off-season, in the wake of SS Christian Guzman signing with Washington, and Henry Blanco being acquired by the Cubs.
(not only are Toronto getting a 3B with power hitting credentials, but you’ve not lived until you’ve witnessed Corey’s version of Lou Rawls’ “You’ll Never Find”)
What this will do to LA’s contingency plans in the event Adrian Beltre signs elsewhere is anyone’s guess, though I wouldn’t be surprised if Vinny Castilla is available by July, or however soon Washington’s ownership situation is resolved.
