Does it bother anyone else that this summer, a venerable temple of baseball will allow its field to be soiled by an ancient, debauched, barely conscious performer whose best years are very much in the rear view mirrow?
But enough about David Wells, the Rolling Stones are playing Fenway, too.
Their new song, performed at the press conference, features the amazing line “The moon is yellow / My body’s jello.” Someone give these kidz a contract!
Is Stu Spasm ghostwriting the new material?
Oh, and I certainly hope this concert won’t cause further damage to those poor bastards wealthy enough to live in the Fenway area. Many tears were shed after the 2003 Bruce Springsteen concert proved to be TOO LOUD. All that noise must’ve been a real shock to everyone who decided to move in next to a baseball stadium.
And all you elderly tailgaters be warned; these folks are organized: http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2004/03/22/fenway_area_set_to_fight_buffett_date_tailgate_idea/
Though I did not attend, I can promise you that the 2004 Jimmy Buffet concert was too loud…if anyone could hear it.
I shudder to think how many horrific posed shots of Mick Jagger pretending to know who Les Otten or Tom Werner are with his arm around their shoulders will make it into the 2006 Red Sox Yearbook. There are more photos of Jimmy Buffet that of Kevin Youklis in this year’s edition.
