On Tuesday of this week, remarks concerning Dodgers OF Luis Gonzalez were attributed in this space to WFAN’s Chris Carlin.
In fact, Carlin wasn’t on the air at the time. The critique of Gonzalez was recited by Evan Roberts.
While this error was inadvertent, it was also inexcusable.
Mr. Carlin has my full apologies. I can only hope the next time I write something negative about a completely innocent WFAN announcer, I save it up for Pete Franklin.
That’s okay, I used to mix up Bob Wischusen and Ian Eagle all the time…
There’s no mistaking Michael Kay tho…his mistakes today.
“Carlton Fisk broke the mold for catchers because he was six-foot six”
Fisk was and is 6:2
“You might remember Scott Hairston here…because he played for Baltimore and Texas.”
Lunkhead is talking about Scott’s brother Jerry Hairston.
Pelle Carlberg knows more about baseball than Kay.
well, everyone makes mistakes.
EspeciallyEven me. But Carlin’s got every right to be steamed. If I’d caught such a mistake make by another blog, I’d very likely have jumped on their throats.Hey — no worries. I don’t mind being criticized at all — just for things I say. Wasn’t upset in the least — just wanted to let you know I didn’t say it.
Love the blog — keep it up.
