The Seattle Times’ Percy Allen reports that Knicks G Nate Robinson broke bread with a bunch of stiffs over the weekend (link taken from True Hoop)
“Not a lot of people can say that they’ve been in the same place and at the same time as the President,” said Robinson, who graduated from Rainier Beach in 2002.
“Being invited is a big accomplishment, another goal,” he said of attending the White House Correspondents Dinner. “It’s definitely an honor and one that I’m looking forward to.”
MSNBC.com extended Robinson an invitation after he wrote a bi-monthly blog for the Web site this season.
Amongst the featured speakers at said dinner was Stephen Colbert, who managed to seriously annoy those in attendence with what might’ve been his most inspired performance to date.
Not that the Mr. Goodwrench spots weren’t fucking awesome.
White House Correspondents Association president Mark Smith gave this statement to Colbert after his monologue: “Mitre saw was what we were looking for… Mitre saw.”
