…if the ticket taker has gone to the bathroom.

Your beleaguered correspondent and CSTB’s corporate mascot (above) witnessed the St. Edwards Hilltoppers running their Heartland Conference record to a lofty 19-8 with today’s 19-3 beatdown delivered to Oklahoma Panhandle State. OPS have now lost 37 of their 41 games this season, and they’re on their way to no. 38, as they trail St. Edwards, 10-1 after 4 innings in the 2nd half of today’s twinbill.

Tonight’s menu of live baseball includes no. 6 Texas at home to no. 19 Baylor in the middle game of a weekend 3 game series. Last night, the Longhorns rebounded from Tuesday’s upset loss to lowly UT-Arlington with a 16 inning, 7-6 win over the Bears in Waco. Texas’ Austin Wood threw 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief, striking out 6 and stranding 7 Baylor baserunners.

Starting at roughly the same time will be the home opener for the PCL’s Round Rock Express ; after starting the year dropping 4 of their first 7 to New Orleans and Oklahoma City, the Express will send Ezequiel Astacio (above) to the mound ; the Iowa Cubs will counter with Angel Guzman.

If this weekend’s opening homestand wasn’t thrilling enough, the Express have confirmed that Harry Caray-hating Milo Hamilton will be signing copies of his autobiography, ‘Making Airwaves : 60 Years’s At Milo’s Microphone’ when Round Rock host Omaha on May 8. I can only hope the club’s managment will have made arrangements for extra parking and additional security to handle the thousands of persons who are dying to have their picture taken with Hamilton and/or listen to him defame a dead man.
