Preseason No.1 Texas, who struggled for much of the year against teams in their own conference, were throttled earlier tonight by former Big 12 foe Arkansas, Razorbacks freshman P Nick Schmidt (above) throwing 135 pitches (!) in the 9-2 win.
Texas now find themselves in the unenviable position of having to win 3 games in a little less than 24 hours if they hope to advance to the Super Regionals next weekend. The Longhorns take on Miami (OH) tomorrow at noon, with the winner facing Arkansas at 6pm. In the event John McDonnel’s charges don’t win the bracket tomorrow evening, the same two clubs will do it all over again Monday at 1pm.
