When Michael Vick’s latest Nike shoe hits the warehouses at Dick’s Sporting Goods in a couple of weeks, they aren’t going into the trash or back to Nike as a result of the quarterback’s recent indictment. The Vick V shoe, which retails for $100, will go out on shelves as scheduled on Aug. 23, the company’s chief marketing officer Jeff Hennion told me this afternoon.
“What™s going on with Michael Vick doesn™t change our merchandising marketing plan,” Hennion said. “The shoe is obviously a small component of the overall marketing initiative with Nike.”
Hennion and Nike deserve our praise for standing by the embattled Atlanta QB at this crucial time, and I applaud the Portland sportswear manufacturer for refusing to buckle to pressure groups. And with that in mind, I look forward to the launch of the Swoosh’s Chris Benoit signature wrestling boots.
Will that shoe come in a size large enough to shove up Hennion’s ass? (since we know he packs it in regularly, it’ll have to be a shoe of substantial size in order to bring some discomfort.)
Rock on!
It should come in a size large enough to stomp a dog to death, yes?
Looks like Nike changed their mind:
