ESPN is reporting that SS Nomar Garciaparra has consented to a one-year, $8 million deal to return to the Chicago Cubs in 2005. Meaning Nomar can endure another full year of speculation about his next destination.

The Cubs are also said to be close to signing 2B Todd Walker.
Although not exactly a cliffhanger, I’m glad this deal is done. I’m more concerned that the Chubs pick up Dave Kolb or any decent closer after Latroy “Screaming Jay” Walkins. And, since its the first night of Hannukkah, I’d also like the Cubs to get Carlos Beltran (assuming I’m not getting a cubs smoking jacket).
Ben
ben, you might be better off asking for a third middle infielder to play between nomar and walker considering their range.
hey, if they sign Beltran, he can just play a very shallow CF.
kt: Considering the steroid-free range of Sammy’s arm this coming year, I’m thinking that might be his job.
