A Bastrop high school teacher is on leave after a police report accused him of sending obscene text messages to a 17-year-old girl.
Bastrop Independent School District would not say why it placed 36-year-old Russell Frazier, a math teacher and boys varsity basketball coach, on paid leave while it investigates the accusation.
Assistant superintendent Karen Dooley said the district seeks to “make sure we do thorough investigation and can get down to the bottom of the allegations.”
High school senior Adrian Dixon said he knew all about the accusations, adding it is common knowledge around campus.
“Everyone knows about it, so, even the teachers know. We were actually talking about it today in class, and the teacher just told us not to talk about it cause it’s kind of inappropriate,” Dixon said.
KXAN Austin News stopped at Frazier’s house to get his side of the story, but no one answered the door.
There are a few terribly insightful comments about this on the Austin American Statesman site, amongst them, “I think the crime committed here (in Bastrop) was that they weren™t related.”
